Three Common Meter Reading Methods in Smart Power Meter Reading Systems
At present, many industrial users have already used the meter reading system to manage electricity work, so how does the meter reading system work? Today, the editor will briefly share the working principle of the smart energy meter reading system, so that everyone can better understand how this system uses information technology and Internet of Things technology to realize remote intelligent management of smart energy meters.
The meter reading system consists of three parts: the management layer, network layer, and equipment layer. The management layer includes a cloud system, an operation, and maintenance monitoring center, and end-users. Instructions are issued by the management layer, and the instructions are communicated to the device layer through the network layer, that is, the smart energy meter. The meter receives the instructions and transmits various data to the management layer through the network layer. The engineers of the management operation and maintenance monitoring center will monitor and maintain the stability and correctness of the data transmission to ensure that the data found by the energy sellers and energy consumers is accurate. This is the overall operation logic of the meter reading system. In addition, different energy meter reading schemes have slightly different principles in the actual transmission work. Here we will introduce them separately.
The first is the NB-IoT/4G wireless power meter reading solution.
This solution does not require concentrators and collectors and can directly realize the information exchange between the cloud system and the device layer through Ethernet. The principle is that the smart meter has built-in NB-IoT or 4G modules. These two modules can directly transfer the data of the meter to the platform, eliminating the need for network layer devices such as gateways and collectors. Finally, the system processes the data, and finally generates the data report that the user wants.
The second is the RS-485 wired power meter reading solution.
This solution belongs to wired power meter reading. It requires a third-party device collector/concentrator to connect multiple smart meters to the concentrator/collector through 485 transmission lines to establish a data transmission network.
The third is the carrier scheme.
The scheme realizes high-speed transmission of data signals through power line carrier technology. Its characteristic is that the system can collect, analyze and store the data of the smart meter without re-establishing the communication line. Finally, a report is generated for users to query, download the report, etc.
The sharing of the working principle of the smart power meter reading system is here. The wide application of energy meter reading systems benefits from the development of modern information technology, and it has also become the development trend in the electrical industry. The smart energy meter reading system is gradually moving towards the life of every household, bringing people a more convenient way of life.
