The Remote Power Meter Reading System Generally Consists of Which Parts?

The remote meter reading system is a newly emerging water and electricity prepaid management system, which can realize 24-hour all-weather energy consumption monitoring and highly automated management. The system is mainly composed of intelligent instrument, data collector, data concentrator, master station system and so on.

1. Smart instrument

It is a kind of intelligent terminal, in addition to the traditional electric energy meter metering function of basic electricity consumption, it also has functions such as client control, two-way data communication, and electricity theft prevention. The working principle of the smart meter is to sample the analog signal into the digital signal through the A/D converter, and then use the single-chip microcomputer to calculate and analyze it to obtain the power data. Then the data is cached in the cache chip, and the user can read the power data through the corresponding interface and protocol. Using wired transmission, wireless transmission and other technologies, the remote meter reading of the server is finally realized.

2. Collector

The collector is a bridge between the meter and the concentrator. It can collect the electrical pulse signals of multiple meters and convert them into digital data information records. It communicates with the concentrator through RS-485 communication cable or power line carrier, receives various instructions (such as switching on and off) from the concentrator, and transmits the recorded meter data and status to the concentrator. The collector is suitable for the situation of instrument concentration. Generally, a collector is installed nearby to manage 12, 32 or 64 meters (different types of collectors can be selected according to the number of meters). If the distributed wiring construction of the meter is difficult, the interface of the collector is simplified and directly loaded into the meter to become the acquisition module.

3. Concentrator

The hub is what we often call the "collection control terminal". In addition to collecting the data on the instrument to the host through power line carrier or RS-485 and transmitting it to the host through wired or wireless means, it can also issue relevant instructions to the collecting machine. The path between the collector box and the collector is a downlink channel, generally using RS-485, power line carrier, etc. The channel between the collector box and the main station is the uplink channel, which can be telephone, wireless and so on. Although it is possible to directly read the meter without a concentrator, the efficiency and cost of meter reading, as well as the completeness and sharing of data will be greatly affected.

4. Host system

The main station system is the management center. Through the collected data, the electricity consumption can be visually seen on the computer, and there is no need for meter readers to read meters on site. It can also realize remote water and power outages according to customer needs. The system can also analyze the data and compile corresponding reports to provide a decision-making basis for managers.
