Do Smart Energy Meters Need an Internet Connection?

You haven’t seen a smart energy meter plugged into the Internet. So how does smart electric meter transfer data? In this share, we will see it.

Power wire carrier, to put it bluntly, relies on wires to transmit data. Generally, it can only be used in the loop of the same transformer, transmitted to the terminal, and then sent wirelessly to the power metering system of the electric power bureau.

There should be a module at the lower part of the meter to use this transmit method. The module is called the power carrier module. After the data processing in the circuit is completed, it is transmitted to the power carrier module. After the module processes the data, it is transmitted to the terminal, and finally transmitted to the power terminal of the power metering department by means of the wireless transmitter.

This method is also very commonly used now. For example, the measurement methods of shared distribution stations, temporary transformers, and public metering boxes are basically measured in this way. In this way, users can't make their own payments online, they can only go to the electric power bureau to buy electricity.
