What Is the Structure and Function of The Electric Energy Meter?

The use of electricity is a major advance in human civilization. In life, civilization needs electricity everywhere. The tool used to measure electricity is the energy meter. The following small series will introduce the structure and function of the electric energy meter.

1. The concept of an electric energy metering device

The electric energy meter, also called the watt-hour meter, is the core of the electric energy metering device, which measures the electric energy consumed by load or generated by the power supply.

Electric energy metering device: It is composed of three parts: electric energy meter, transformer (current transformer, voltage transformer), and secondary circuit from electric energy meter to the transformer.

2. The functions of each part are:

Electric energy meter model:

The first digit D-electric energy meter.

The second digit means phase line: D-single phase, S-three phase three-wire active, T-three-phase four-wire active.

Electric energy meter nameplate: Take the electric meter DDSY1877 as an example, 220V indicates the rated voltage, 1.5(6)A indicates that the rated current is 1.5A, the maximum current is 6A, and 50HZ indicates the rated frequency. 1600ipm/kwh means that 1600 pulses are one kilowatt of electricity.
