What is the Difference Between LoraWAN And NB-IoT?
The LPWA technologies make our network with low cost, covering wide areas, and supporting massive numbers of connections. LoRaWAN and NB-IoT shows the most momentum and will occupy the largest share of the LPWA market in the future.
Similarities:
1. They both apply Low-power wide-area technology which make low cost of the entire network with wide coverage,
2. They both realize low energy consumption by switching to sleep mode
3. Both technologies play a very important role in many application areas that require deep indoor coverage and areas that require longer battery life.
Differences:
1. For needs that require more frequent communication, IOT is better. There is no duty cycle restriction on the licensed spectrum. But the overall price is higher than LoRaWAN
2. LoRa can carry out long-distance low-power communication by using CSS modem, which has stronger anti-interference ability and low signal-to-noise ratio. NB-IOT requires the use of licensed frequency bands
3. NB-IOT consumes higher energy
4. LoRaWAN has lower cost and stronger confidentiality and will not be restricted by business or data transmission costs.
5. The campus network can be strengthened by using the public LoRaWAN network
6. The NB-IOT service area must already be covered by a data base station. Compared with LoRaWAN, the deployment cost is high
7. LoRaWAN has better indoor penetration ability,
8. The connection loss of LoRaWAN is relatively small, so the battery life is longer.
