The remote power meter reading system is designed to realize real-time and reliable data reading of three meters (electric meter, water meter, gas meter) remotely. The device realizes the remote meter reading task with the star/vertical line/radio communication triple network structure. The data collector is connected to the radio through a vertical network, and one vertical network can connect m collectors (for example, m=128). Therefore, a subnet can share a station with nm=32×128 meters. This is a triple network structure consisting of star-vertical-wireless. The components of this network structure are electricity meters, water meters or gas meters (hereinafter referred to as three meters), data collectors, and radio transceiver stations.

System composition
GPRS remote power meter reading consists of four parts: meter reading center, communication network, on-site meter reading equipment, on-site measurement and control equipment.
Power meter reading center: It is composed of central server, upper computer meter reading software, etc.
Communication network: public network broadband (fixed IP) + GPRS network of telecom operators, supporting other common networking forms.
On-site power meter reading equipment: GPRS meter reading terminal (mains power supply); for sites without mains power supply conditions, solar power supply + GPRS low-power consumption measurement and control terminal or battery-powered GPRS micro-power consumption measurement and control terminal can be used.
On-site measurement and control equipment: various flow meters, various transmitters, PLC equipment, etc.
