Classification of water meter

According to the measurement level: A-level meter, B-level meter, C-level meter, D-level meter.

According to the nominal diameter: large diameter water meter, small diameter water meter.

According to the purpose: civil water meter, industrial water meter.

According to the installation direction: horizontal installation of water meters, vertical installation of water meters.

According to temperature: cold water meter, hot water meter.

According to the pressure: ordinary water meter, high pressure water meter.

According to the immersion status: wet water meter, dry water meter, liquid-sealed water meter.


Principle of water meter

Installed in a closed pipe, it is composed of a moving element, and the speed of the water flow directly makes it obtain the power speed. When the water flows through the water meter, the impeller (rotor or screw) is driven to rotate, and the speed of the water flow is proportional to the rotational speed of the impeller. Since the cross-sectional area of the nozzle at the impeller driven by the water flow is constant, the rotational speed of the impeller is also proportional to the flow rate. The linkage component on the impeller shaft is connected with the counting mechanism, so that the counting mechanism accumulates the number of revolutions of the impeller (rotor or screw), thereby recording the amount of water passing through the water meter.


Selection of water meter:

The selected water meter should be accurate and reliable. Adapt to the water quality conditions of the pipe network, the material is excellent and durable. The structure should be simple, and the price should be low. The starting flow value, the minimum flow value and the cut-off flow value are all low. Small in size and light in weight, it is convenient for disassembly and assembly. The meter reading is accurate and convenient and is matched with local management; the flow capacity is large, and the head loss is small.


Installation of water meter:

①In front of the water meter inlet, install a straight pipe section with the same cross-section as the pipeline at least 5 times the diameter of the meter, and install a straight pipe section with at least 2 times the diameter of the meter at the water meter outlet.

②The connecting pipes at the upstream and downstream of the water meter cannot be reduced in diameter.

③ It is recommended to install flow control equipment (such as valves) and filtering equipment.

④The flange sealing ring shall not protrude into the pipeline or dislocate.

⑤ Before installing the water meter, the pipeline must be thoroughly cleaned to avoid debris from damaging the water meter.

⑥ The water flow direction of the water meter should be consistent with the water flow direction of the pipeline.

⑦After the water meter is installed, slowly fill the pipeline with water to prevent the high-speed airflow from damaging the water meter.

⑧The installation position should ensure that the pipeline is full of water, air bubbles will not be concentrated in the meter, and the installation of the water meter at the highest point of the pipeline should be avoided.
