What Are the Advantages of Smart Energy Meters?

The main types of smart energy meters are IC card meters. Users hold IC cards to the power supply department to pay for electricity. The power supply department uses the electricity sales management machine to write the purchased electricity into the IC card. The user holds the IC card and swipes the contactless IC card in the induction area. The power supply can be closed, and the card is removed after the power is supplied. When the remaining power in the meter is equal to the alarm power, the power off the alarm (or buzzer alarm) will be triggered. At this time, the user can swipe the card in the induction area to restore the power supply. When the remaining power is zero, the power is automatically turned off, and the user must pay for the electricity with the card again, and then the electricity can be restored.

For residential electricity, when compared with mechanical meters and electronic meters. It has the following advantages:

1. It has a variety of anti-theft functions, small starting current, no creep, wide load, low power consumption, flat error curve, and good stability during long-term operation. Single-phase local charge-controlled smart meter.

2. Beautiful appearance, small size, lightweight, and easy installation.

3. High accuracy: fully electronic design, built-in imported special chip, the accuracy is not affected by frequency, temperature, voltage, and higher harmonics.

4. Long life: using SMT technology, optimized circuit design, no need to adjust the circuit after the whole machine leaves the factory.

5. Low power consumption: The low power consumption design is adopted to reduce the line loss of the power grid.

6. Pre-purchased power: IC card transmits data to realize data readback. Including reading back the total power, remaining power, accumulated power purchases in the meter, total power purchases, and other information.

7. Store table constants, initial values, user addresses, names, and other information.

8. Overload alarm power off, residual power alarm, and remind users to purchase electricity in time.

The emergence of smart meters has also brought many benefits to energy meter testing institutions. For example, in the past, when testing a mechanical or electronic watch, after installing the meter on the energy meter detection device, the debugger needed to manually input the address of each electric meter in the debugging software. As well as the active and reactive power level of the meter, and the debugging parameter scheme applicable to the meter. These greatly increase the workload of the debugging personnel, delay the delivery of the electric energy meter on schedule, and cause a non-negligible impact on the brand image of the enterprise. However, since the birth of the smart meter, the debugger only needs to put the meter on the computer. Then connect the network cable port of the debugging computer to the network port on the energy meter verification device. After setting the communication serial port between the PC and the device, their various parameters can be automatically generated on the verification software. Through the short-term automatic verification process of the software, it is clear on the computer screen whether the quality of the smart meter meets the national standard.
