The Working Principle and Characteristics of the Prepaid Electric Energy Meter

A prepaid watt-hour meter is also called a quantitative watt-hour meter, or IC card watt-hour meter. In addition to the metering function of an ordinary electric energy meter, it also has the function of purchasing electricity first and then using electricity after purchasing electricity. If the user does not continue to buy electricity after running out of electricity, the power supply will be automatically cut off to stop the power supply. It is used to measure AC single-phase active energy with a rated frequency of 50Hz and is equipped with prepaid electricity sales software to realize the management function of paying first and then using electricity. Advanced microelectronic technology is used for data collection, processing, and storage, and radiofrequency cards are used to transmit data. Its performance indicators meet national standards. The prepaid watt-hour meter has the characteristics of small size, high security, high reliability, and anti-theft of electricity.


How a prepaid meter works:

An electric energy meter consists of two main functions. The first is the electric energy metering part, which uses a dedicated integrated electric energy metering chip to calculate the sampling signals of voltage and current, generates metering pulses representing electric energy, and directly uses it for electric energy error checking, and at the same time counts the electric energy for the functional processing part of the MCU. The second is the control part of the microprocessor MCU, which calculates the electric energy according to the electric energy pulse of the metering part, and exchanges data through the radio frequency card interface. At the same time, the LCD with a wide temperature range is used for display, and the relay of magnetic retention is controlled according to the set parameters to control the user's power consumption.
