The First Domestic Electricity Meter-Themed Museum China in A Meter Was Completed and Opened
On April 18, the "China in an Electric Meter" Electric Meter Museum was officially completed and opened in the Jiangyan District Power Supply Company of Taizhou City.
The museum is currently the first museum with the theme of electricity meters in China. Taking the chronological order of historical development as the clue, the history and culture as the mainline, and multi-angle and multi-channel, it displays the charm of the history and culture of electricity metering. The exhibition hall is divided into four periods: before the founding of the People's Republic of China, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, during reform and opening, and during the new era. There are more than 200 collections on display.
Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, foreign electric meters dominated the domestic market. For example, the British Ferranti C-type meters were the first batch of electric meters introduced in my country. Three or four times heavier than a regular old mechanical watt-hour meter.
After the founding of New China, Shanghai Huatong Switch Factory developed the first single-phase watt-hour meter in New China as a tribute to Chairman Mao, and its quality surpassed that of German and Japanese watches of the same type. After the "First Five-Year Plan", the first batch of "typed" watt-hour meters, DD1, produced by Harbin Electric Meter Factory imitated the Soviet Union's electric meters, has a milestone significance in the history of electric meters in my country. After the reform and opening up, Shanghai No. 5 Electric Meter Factory's DD17 series electric meters with innovative magnetic thrust bearings began to be exported and sold to more than 30 countries and regions, and Chinese electric meters began to take on the world stage. After the new era, my country's electricity meter technology is becoming more and more refined and smarter. Mechanical meters, electromechanical meters, electronic meters, prepaid meters, multi-rate meters, smart meters, etc. Functional meters emerge in an endless stream. Today, the modularized "dual-core" smart meter is driven by breakthroughs in load identification technology. Smart meters can realize load classification identification and dynamic monitoring of different household appliances, reaching an advanced measurement level. Users can obtain micro-services such as safety warnings, fault alarms, and energy-saving analysis of terminals such as household appliances through various online channels, making electricity consumption more transparent, more assured, and safer.
It is reported that this is the first pioneering electric meter museum in China. For the field of electricity metering, the creation of the museum is of constructive significance. Starting from the ancient and long metering culture, it covers the development context of my country's electricity metering culture, and witnesses the rise of my country's electricity metering from coarse to fine. For the electric power industry, it reflects the struggle of the electric power industry from scratch to perfection, showing the progress of my country's economic and social development with the times, and also witnessing the "people's electric power industry as a the people” of the steadfast deeds.
