The Composition Principle and Wiring Method of Single-Phase Electric Meter

Single-phase electricity meter is a device used to measure the power supply of various household appliances in ordinary household circuits. Single-phase electricity meter has the characteristics of low energy consumption and high reliability. It is an ideal product for reforming the electricity consumption system and realizing the commercialization of electricity.


A single-phase meter consists of a current coil, a voltage coil, a metering dial, and a counter. The eddy current generated by the voltage and current coil on the aluminum plate interacts with the alternating magnetic flux to generate electromagnetic force so that the aluminum plate rotates at the same time and introduces braking torque. The rotation speed of the aluminum plate is proportional to the load power. The number of revolutions of the device is measured.


A single-phase meter has a total of 5 connection terminals, two of which are short-circuited inside the meter through the connection piece. Therefore, a single-phase meter has only four external terminals, namely terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4. If the power of the load is within the allowable range of the watt-hour meter, that is, the current passing through the current coil of the watt-hour meter will not cause the coil to burn out, then the direct connection method can be used.


Direct connection method: The single-phase meter has four terminals, numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4 from left to right. Whichever connection method is used, the phase wire (live wire) must be connected to the terminals of the meter's current coil. Due to the special wiring of some instruments, the specific wiring method needs to refer to the wiring diagram on the terminal cover.


For household electric meters, the first thing is to make a reasonable choice: choose a single-phase or three-phase electric meter according to the task; the selection of rated voltage and current must make the load voltage and current equal to or less than its rated value. Secondly, according to the requirements of the manual and wiring diagram, connect the incoming and outgoing wires to the outlet end of the watt-hour meter in turn. When wiring, pay attention to the phase sequence relationship of the power supply, especially the phase sequence of the reactive watt-hour meter; after completion, it must be checked and checked repeatedly before it can be turned off and used.
