Reasons for Low Photovoltaic Power Generation (4)

After the photovoltaic system is installed, the user is most concerned about the power generation, because it is directly related to the user's return on investment. There are many factors that affect power generation, such as the quality of components, inverters, cables, azimuth angle of installation, tilt angle, dust, shadow shading, component, and inverter ratio system schemes, line design, construction, grid voltage, etc. Factors are possible. This series of articles will discuss various factors one by one based on actual cases. These series of articles mainly discuss the influence of component factors on the system.

In the previous articles, we have talked about the influence of dust on components and the degradation of components. So, is there any way to detect the components?

1. How to detect components from the inverter side?

The string monitoring technology is to install a current sensor and a voltage detection device at the input end of the inverter component to detect the voltage and current value of each string. The string monitoring technology analyzes the voltage and current of each string to determine whether the operation of each string is obviously normal. If there is an abnormality, the alarm code will be displayed in time, and the abnormal string will be accurately located. And can upload the fault record to the monitoring system, so that the operation and maintenance personnel can find the fault in time.

Although string monitoring technology adds a little bit of cost, it plays a big role and is still insignificant for the entire photovoltaic system:

(1) Early detection of component problems, such as component dust, cracks, component scratches, hot spots, etc. The effect is not obvious in the early stage. But, in the later stage, by detecting the difference in current and voltage between adjacent strings, it is possible to analyze whether the string is faulty. Dealing with it in time could avoid greater losses. The effect is remarkable.

(2) When the system fails, it does not require an on-site inspection by professionals to quickly determine the type of failure. It can precisely locate which string to help the operation and maintenance personnel solve it in time and minimize the loss.
