How Much Electricity Does A 48V Electric Vehicle Consume When Fully Charged?
The charging voltage of many small electric vehicles is not large, such as electric bicycles, and balance vehicles.
The voltage of electric vehicles is generally 48V, 60V, and 72V. As electric vehicle batteries are generally lead-acid batteries, and 12V for each lead-acid battery, if there are 4 pieces of lead-acid batteries, it is a 48V electric vehicle. Same, there are 6 pieces of lead-acid batteries in 60V electric vehicles and 7 pieces of lead-acid batteries in 72 electric vehicles.
According to new international standards, 48-volt electric vehicles have lower speeds and are non-motorized vehicles. It can last about 50 kilometers for a 48V 20A lead-acid battery. The power of international electric vehicles is very small, speed is within 25 kg/h and leads to small power consumption.
The cruising range of an electric vehicle is related to the capacity of the battery. The larger the battery, the longer the cruising range. A 60V electric vehicle is a moped with a 96 km cruising range, while a 72 electric vehicle with more than 100 km cruising range.
According to the new international standard, 48V electric vehicles are non-motorized vehicles and can ride directly on the road without a special license. So, it is a common use of electric vehicles among non-motorized vehicles. It takes 8 hours to fully charge once. So, how do we calculate the power consumption?
The Ah value of the battery capacity is the main factor that determines the power consumption. Then we take the common 20Ah as an example for calculation.
The unit of electricity is Wh. The power required for a full charge is: 48V*20Ah=960Wh=0.96KWh
However, the charging and discharging process is lossy. If the efficiency of charging and discharging is 90%, then the total efficiency is 81%. In this way, to fully charge the electric vehicle battery with 0.96 kWh of electricity will consume 0.96÷81%=1.08 kWh of electricity.
Wow, you can see it is very power saving for a 48V electric vehicle.
