Does Smart Energy Meter Consume Your Power?
Smart meters make people's lives more convenient and power enterprise management more efficient. But we also have many questions when we use the meter, such as:
A: Do you know? There is a battery in the smart meter, which is in a charged state for a long time, and has four functions of pulse, trip, infrared, and alarm, and it consumes power even without electricity!
B: It turns out that the smart meter itself also consumes electricity, so don’t we have to bear more electricity bills?
A: It's no wonder that electricity bills are rising, I didn't expect you to be such a smart meter!
So we thought smart electric meter itself consumes power and on users' wallets. Is it the truth?
In fact, this statement is only half true. Although the smart meter itself consumes electricity, the electricity bill generated by this part is not borne by the user.
Let’s first look at the wiring of smart meter. There are two main lines of smart meters, one is the incoming line, which is connected to the power supply and is responsible for power supply; the other is the outgoing line, which is connected to the user's electrical appliances and is responsible for transmitting and measuring.

The battery in the smart electric meter is mainly powered by the incoming line. That is, when the battery is not connected to the user line, the battery should be charged the same as when it should be charged. The four functions of pulse, trip, infrared, and alarm can still be used. This part of the electricity is contracted by the power supply bureau.
In other words, if the indoor switch is turned off, it means that the outlet connecting to the user temporarily stops working, the alarm trip light of the meter should be on and it will be on, but the meter will not move.
Believe it or not, you will try by yourself. Turn off the electric switch at home and see if the meter can take two steps without any problems? If it can really go, it means that the meter is not normal, so let the electrician have a look, and if there is a problem, get it to the power supply station for verification.
