Difference Between Solar Inverter and Charge Controller

The main function of a solar inverter is to convert direct current (battery, DC power, etc.) to alternating current. People usually use alternating current in daily life, but the electricity generated by solar energy is direct current and cannot be used directly. A solar inverter is equivalent to a current conversion device, and the current it generates can be used in different fields (home/industrial/office, etc.). Inverter selection and installation is very important if we are using a solar system in the house. It is an indispensable equipment in the solar power generation system.

Solar controllers are mainly used for photovoltaic modules to charge batteries. It can stabilize the voltage during the charging and discharging process to avoid device damage caused by overcharging. In addition, the solar controller also has boost, short circuit protection, load protection, and coordination of the work between solar panels, lithium batteries, and loads. Therefore, the full name of the controller is also called the solar charge and discharge controller, which is divided into MPPT solar controller and PWM solar controller.
